Disciplinary Literacy: Read & Think like a historian

We want to take our students to an even higher level of literacy development. Once the foundation of learning to read at grade level is accomplished then we can create high performing readers and writers who have super 21st century analyzing skills that will accelerate the United States.

  • Read and Write like an Historian.
  • State Standards: Need a Writing Standard. Need at least two Reading Comprehension Standards.
  • Select multiple texts consisting of Secondary Sources and Primary Sources on the topic.
  • Culminating Writing Task that encompasses all texts.(Expository or Argumentative)
  • Using your Reading Comprehension standards create Text-Dependent- Questions.
  • TDQ need to ensure students analyze multiple texts after multiple close reads.
