How can we teach 21st century American small groups?

Digging deeper into Differentiated Student Learning Experiences after we have grouped students based on data, we need to re-structure our classroom. The Teacher-Led Group is the most effective for providing remediation and enrichment. Let’s look at the simple steps for our Teacher-Led Group.

1. Students below grade low and/or not meeting mastery of benchmarks/standards.

2.Select a GRADE-LEVEL Cold text that is aligned to the benchmark/standard

A. Fully read the text to ensure it is aligned.

3. Always pull out tier 2-3 vocabulary words.

4. Create a culminating task.

A. Focus on the depth and complexity of the benchmark.

B. Create a Text-based-Question that students have to write to.

5. Create a close read.

6. ALL students read the text independently or through Shared Reading.
