Differentiated Student Learning Experiences: Effective PLC.
Seeking ways to increase the effectiveness your PLC’s and increase the learning gains of ALL your students? You do not need some special expensive program or take time off of school to attend a PD. All you need to do is follow the simple steps and continue to seek collaboration with your peers. Remember in order to change our schools into 21st century schools the most effective change agent is the actual educator.
- Based on student data what are the trends in the classroom? (Can we group students based on benchmarks)
2. Once students are group based on benchmark then assess grade level reading.
3. Students on or above grade level proficiency.
A. Increase the lexile of the texts.
B. Increase the complexity of the task. (Writing is the key)
C. Reduce or eliminate scaffolding.
4. Students below grade level.
A. Grade-Level Texts. (NEVER reduce the lexile of texts below grade level)
B. Increase the scaffolding by the teacher. (Deconstruct the benchmark-what specifically do the students need to fully understand to master the benchmark or standard.
