Day in the life: Building Strong Teams
Building strong grade level teams is paramount for success. One of the keys is to always keep the energy and the conversation centered on student data. What helped me is that I view teacher observations as an integral part of the decision-making process. Additionally my role is also help each of us to collaborate on best practice and teaching the depth and complexity of the benchmarks. I have always strived to ensure that all stake holders have a voice at the table. Shared ownership is paramount for success and it is crucial for long-term systematic change. I have made my share of mistakes. For example being passionate about a certain topic sometimes leads to forced compliance. I have been guilty of my over excitement of said initiatives and/or strategies and have alienated some. Education is hard and what I want to do is ensure all stakeholders always are a participant and have a voice. My overall advice to building strong teams is it takes patience, determination, and strong desire by all parties. I will always advocate on behalf of students with commitment to be fair and balanced.
