Why? Writing is directly linked to The Science of Reading. Writing increases reading. Reading increases writing. Text-based writing increases knowledge. Follow these simple steps to creating an evidenced-based writing plan that will help all students become 21st century ready. (This is for any grade level and content area.)
- 1st. Select your state standard.(You will need a writing standard, but not yet)
- 2nd. Select your aligned grade-level texts.(3-5 texts. All aligned to the topic or standard.
- 3rd: Read the texts closely. Based on content you will then determine what writing standard you will align it to.
- You will want to lean towards argumentative or expository writing.
- Ensure your culminating writing task will encompass all texts that are being being used.
