The first thing you should know is there is no program you need to purchase. You can create evidenced-based units of study that will increase knowledge, increase literacy, fluency, and comprehension. Remember we are building a strong foundation that ALL students need in the 21st century.
If you are a Kindergarten teacher or a 12st grad goverment teacher, or any grade level in between then you are in the right place! Let’s get started. Follow these simple steps to building a knowledge-based curriculum that is evidenced-based.
- Select your state standard.
- Select one text that is align to that standard.(Must be Grade-level text)
- Select another text aligned to that topic and standard.
- A text-set does not automatically mean two texts. I would encourage to build with multiple texts to create a unit.
- Finally, create a culminating writing task that is either argumentative or expository. It will depend on the text what writing task you can create. Texted-based writing will cystalize the knowledge learned and stregthen another 21st century skill that all students need.
Remember a typical basal is not designed this way. They are not aligned to The Science of Reading. You want to create evidenced-based instruction that is the bedrock of a 21st century school.
